| | I bought 100 shares at ~24 dollars each. It increased momentarily, then dipped below my purchase cost. My husband was genuinely worried. I told him, "It will go up again because I did my reasearch due to the fact that XYZ and ABC will come around." Good enough! IT DID!
$24 x 100 shares = $2,400 okay. Now the profit has gone up. It is around ~29 x 100 shares = $2,900. The difference is $500 dollars profit.

I am predicting the stock will go up to $~40 in few years. 
Here below is a screenshot chart... There's months (D for December, J for Jan... so forth) at the bottom of the chart and the numbers on the right side are just the "amount of money".
You can see the "BID" and "ASK". There are folks who want to buy at this price but the sellers are asking for this price. Also, see the number next to "B/A" 100x100. It means only in the hundreds of shares will be sold - typically 100. No less.
As you can see, there's other kind of chart to read.
